Kanthal's new Advanced Structure silicon carbide heating element,
GLOBAR AS, is the new High Performer in the GLOBAR range of products. The new material offers higher mechanical strength, greater consistency and repeatability of performance, and greater resistance to chemical attack, opening up new areas of application, and improving the performance in existing furnaces and equipment.

GLOBAR AS is designed to be interchangeable with the majority of standard products in the market, so upgrading performance of equipment is as easy as replacing the existing heating elements with GLOBAR AS. No changes to the equipment or power supply will be required in most cases. The high strength of the new material allows longer elements to be made, in smaller diameters. Today, we are producing elements with 3500 mm heated length, in 38 mm diameter, and future development is aimed at producing up to a maximum of 6000 mm hot zone.
Kanthal GLOBAR AS elements are not just available in single rod and multi-leg forms, they are also available as the newly designed Kanthal GLOBAR Type B which is ideal for narrow channels, launders and feeders, as well as for multi-zoned radiant roofs, which will offer high power density, with close control of the temperature profile.
The new products were launched at Glasstec, October 21–25, in Düsseldorf Germany along with the "Systems Approach", where the new Globar products will be combined with tubes, control systems and other equipment, to provide added value.
